How to shuffle strings in python

Question:

I am trying to make a password generator project but I don’t know how to shuffle the password.
Here is my code:

letters = ['a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'f', 'g', 'h', 'i', 'j', 'k', 'l', 'm', 'n', 'o', 'p', 'q', 'r', 's', 't', 'u', 'v', 'w', 'x', 'y', 'z', 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E', 'F', 'G', 'H', 'I', 'J', 'K', 'L', 'M', 'N', 'O', 'P', 'Q', 'R', 'S', 'T', 'U', 'V', 'W', 'X', 'Y', 'Z']
numbers = ['0', '1', '2', '3', '4', '5', '6', '7', '8', '9']
symbols = ['!', '#', '$', '%', '&', '(', ')', '*', '+']

nr_letters= int(input("How many letters would you like in your password?n"))

password = ""

  password += random.choice(letters)

  password += random.choice(symbols)

for number in range(1, nr_numbers + 1):
  password += random.choice(numbers)

print(f"Your password is: {password}.")

Answers:

You can use random.shuffle, but you first need to convert your password string to a list:

password_as_list = list(password)
random.shuffle(password_as_list)
password = "".join(password_as_list)

Shuffle will reorder the items in the list and by "".join we reassemble the list to a string.

You can also get password with random.sample:

import random
password="abcdef123"
''.join(random.sample(password,len(password)))

you do not need to convert your password to list
